Collage Kit
As part of Light Night Worcester 2021, we invited artist and designer Mark Murphy to create a collage-making resource for schools, colleges, sixth forms and young people at home.
Inside the Collage Kit you will find a brief introduction to collage as an art form, a step-by-step guide, and lots of images to get you started.
You don’t need to be a skilled or experienced artist to create a beautiful and thought provoking collage.
About Mark Murphy
Mark Murphy is an artist and designer based in Birmingham. He uses a range of weird and wonderful vintage prints from the last 75 years to create poignant, challenging and sometimes deliberately humorous collages.

Mark’s new series of collage works, ‘Remember the Future’ for Light Night 2021, remixes what he calls “vintage images of future visions”, and looks back to see how people in the past imagined what the future might be like.
Collage Workshop at Christopher Whitehead Language College
Students in Year 9 and 10 at Christopher Whitehead Language Collage, had the opportunity to hear from Mark and ask questions about his artistic practice. The students, who have all chosen or are thinking of choosing Art as a GCSE option, also tried their hand at creating collages using Mark’s tips and guidance at a workshop. They also had a chance to see Mark’s latest work “Remember the Future” at Light Night Worcester.
